Who we are?

PECM was created out of a genuine desire to provide high quality, world-class learning opportunities, for students struggling with additional learning needs, such as Autism and Dyslexia. Research led us to esteemed training partners:

  • Autism Partnership Foundation provides Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) status
  • Macquarie Universities MultiLit provides certification for the Reading Tutor Program (RTP)
  • International Dyslexia Association (IDA) provides Teacher Reading Standards from Reading Scientist

We also offer the globally recognised UK National Curriculum at Primary level which is adapted for students with developmental conditions, Cambridge IGCSE, AS & A Level for senior students, both online and in-house.

High-quality teacher training is combined with scientifically valid, specialist curriculum’s, quality programs and unique services, which are purpose-designed to support student underachievement. Our Reading Clinic identifies several conditions unrelated to sight but critical in reading.

PECM was created to fulfill the learning needs of students who struggle in education. PECM is managed and staffed by active teachers, who draw their experience from international and public schools, in Myanmar, Brunei, India, Vietnam, Qatar, UK and USA. We are passionate about additional learning needs and confident we can help students with learning challenges. Contact PECM for any under-achievement issues and receive a free screening.

What Is Dyslexia And
Specific Learning
Difficulties (SPLD)?

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.

PECM is composed of a full-time, specialist curriculum teaching program for students with Autism; A Literacy Division for students struggling with EAL and general academic under-performance and a Reading Clinic which treats visual processing difficulties unrelated to sight; and a Homeschooling Division for online and in- house tutoring for upper secondary students. .

If your child has Autism, how do you give them the best opportunity to succeed?

At PECM, we offer the best program in the world for learners with Autism. The Progressive Applied Behaviour Analyst (ABA) Curriculum is specifically designed for Autism and developmental conditions. Our curriculum requires mandatory, rigorous teacher training through the American Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCAB). Our program has been adapted by Autism Partnership of Hong Kong, to better reflect Myanmar cultural values and learners developmental milestones.

Is it realistic to expect a university education for learners with “High Functioning Autism?

Yes, it is a realistic ambition, here’s what you need! With early intervention, tight school parent collaboration, attention to developmental milestones, explicit teaching of social skills, increased exposure to triggers to reduce sensitivities and teachers who are trained in scientifically valid approaches such as ABA, it is very possible. Our curriculum and teaching approach includes elements from speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, educational psychology, educational philosophy, specialist testing and assessment.

How do you feel when your child under-performs in school despite tuition?

Failure and under-performance can sometimes be signs of undetected learning issues. At PECM, we are detective teachers, who specialise in identifying issues which prevent learning. We employ diagnostic tools for assessing students underlying abilities, which determines what and how to teach, alongside high technology which speeds student progress. Don’t accept less, call us today for a free screening!

A Swedish student, formerly at ISY came to us with a diagnosis of dyslexia (reading). Here is how we helped!

Parents were still concerned about his under performance at school, despite extra tuition. They felt he was falling behind and was significantly below age related expectations. His tutor followed a recognised program but learning was still slow and frustrating. Our Reading Clinic tested for binocular vision, convergence and visual processing issues unrelated to sight and discovered further issues. Our Visual specialist prepared a series of exercises which addressed these issues. He now enjoys reading for pleasure and parents were very happy and surprised that professionals in Myanmar were more thorough than professionals in Singapore! Has Covid-19 disrupted your child’s plans for overseas university education? Are you looking for a viable alternative to traditional methods of university entrance?

For parents considering homeschooling their students to cope with the impact of Covid-19, PECM offers online and in-house lessons in Cambridge IGCSE, AS & A Level Economics, Business, Travel & Tourism and ESL. Our international teacher brings 25 years experience teaching economics, with 10 years in Myanmar. His academic record is very impressive with 80% of students achieving A*. This option could save your thousands of dollars in fees and students can opt for one to one teaching. Don’t delay, call today for more information.

Why are International schools sometimes not able to help students with learning challenges ?

While research into learning challenges has grown, the take-up of best practice research in teaching has lagged behind. Teacher training and professional development are scant in these areas. Early Years Teachers are reluctant to refer students because they reach developmental milestones at different times. All primary curriculum's shift in the upper years from “learning how to read, to reading to learn,” which makes learning more difficult for these students. Often, schools lack resources, expertise and the leadership to improve the outcomes for all students. PECM can help, call today for more information.
